Slide into a first-Wednesday tradition in Andersonville: Chicago accordionist Heather Riordan settles in at Kopi Cafe for an early-evening set of squeezebox music conjured straight from the imagined soul of a corner café. Expect the kind of soundtrack that lives in your head when you picture a sidewalk table, a warm drink, and a slow conversation — a wandering mix of musettes, tangos, ballads, and whatever else the bellows feel like breathing out that night. Riordan, a longtime Andersonville resident and a fixture of the Chicago performance scene since 1990 (Neo-Futurists, The Crooked Mouth Band, and solo gigs all over town), turns Kopi's front room into a pop-up listening parlor for ninety minutes. Drop in for the whole set, or stop by mid-walk for a coffee and a few tunes — either way, it's a low-key, joyful way to spend the first Wednesday of the month.
